Day opportunities

What is day opportunities?

We support young people, adults or elderly persons who need care and support due to mental health problems, learning or physical disabilities, to have fun, learn, and socialise, in a safe and friendly environment.

We support people to learn new skills, and live their life to the full, offering a diverse and broad range of support for people - education, therapeutic, social learning, and community participation.

Supporting people on their journey

As parents and carers, we know that you want the very best for your family member/person you care for.
We have principles that underpin our service. They shape the way we work and the service we offer, so you know what to expect.

  1. Recognise everyone as an individual
Everyone has a different personality, strengths, goals, likes and dislikes. Our service is centred on the individual and ensuring they have the opportunity to reach their potential and engage in the activities and opportunities that are right for them.
  1. Tailored individual support
Providing support is not one size fits all, everyone has different needs, strengths and abilities. We work with people and their carers to put together a plan to meet the person’s specific needs and to enable them to reach their goals.
  1. Offer and encourage choice
We’ll work with you and the person you care for to develop a plan of support and activities. For us, choice is really important, so people are encouraged to choose what they want to take part in from a range of activities that are both in house and community based.
  1. Promote lifelong learning and life skills
Our service is educational, but we do things differently, we support people to learn new skills through practical education. For example, you’re more likely to see people learning to count using their bus fare, rather than learning maths in a classroom.

We recognise that everyone learns and develops differently, so our service has the flexibility to adapt to people’s changing needs. As they develop new skills and become more confident, we support them to try new tasks or activities, to ensure they continue to learn. We also recognise that as people get older, they may have different needs, but this doesn’t prevent people from achieving new things and enjoying their day.

Our sites

We have a number of accessible sites across the town, which are used as bases by our different groups. Regardless of where your main base is situated in the town, you will have the opportunity to experience activities and socialise with others from across the service. Our main site is based at Stopsley.

Our team

Our team are experienced, committed, knowledgeable and are well trained to meet a range of different and specific needs. We provide a vital link to services and the community. We work closely with a number of other professions, including social workers and health, to ensure everyone is well cared for and supported to live their best life.

We understand that it may be an anxious time for you and the person you care for, whether you are transitioning from child to adult services, or you are new to Adult Social Care. If you have any questions, or would like to visit one of our sites, please get in touch:
